“And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved [it]. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved [them]. And David put them off him” I Samuel 17:38-39
Your life, in the end, becomes the time you spent here on earth. So it is very expedient you spend it very well. It is without a doubt that the moment man is born, the struggle begins. You may agree with me that life indeed is a toil and in the fight to succeed, we tend to pick up numerous things and get many attachments to people, which I must be quick to add is not wrong. However, we’ve heard many sermons which advise us on choosing what we focus on, during our time here on earth. And we’ve heard one too many times that we are just pilgrims- simply passing through here. “Naked we came, and naked, we shall go.”
Let us think on this for a second.
We are drawn back by so many circumstances in life. Our successes depend on what we keep on ourselves and the things we let surround us in the course of life.
The quotation above tells of when the Israelites were going to war against the Philistines, Saul dressed up David in his armor but David could not move in them and said, “I cannot go with these”.
Like David we are crowded with so many unwanted things which prevent us from moving swiftly to our destination and which advertently shifts and sways our focus.
Family and friends play a huge role in our lives. One man of God once said, “Your company determines what accompanies you” and I’ve found this to be very true as many people are stuck at one place because of the people they associate with. We all at one point, keep friends who never really give us life impacting advices and ideas.
Check your life and see the things drawing you back. It may not be only family or friends but addiction, time wasting, unnecessary calls and visits, procrastination, frequent outings, unbelief, fear, indecision among other things that’s shifting your focus and taking you off course.
Be mindful of the fact that our failure to take a decision in the here and now, may affect our future in waves.
Remember, your attention determines your direction so don’t be swayed off by those who have opposite vision and purpose to yours. Associate with people of similar vision and purpose. Make sure that anything that associate with you must be a device of success not failure.
Beloved, life is time and the time is now. Don’t waste it! It’s never too late to take a decision to drop the load you are carrying because, dearly beloved, neither you nor I can go with these.

The truth most at times hurt and this is not far from it koraaa, so many of us need to let go of so many little things that we deem necessary but are the very ones retarding our growth as an unbalanced diet. LET THEM GO,YOU CANNOT GO WITH THEM.
