There once was born to a family, a chubby baby boy whose existence was pure joy especially since his dad felt he’d won over his mum by scoring a second male child with whom he would bond. His dad went everywhere with him and was so very proud of him. For the few months he got to live with the boy, it was very evident that he loved and was proud of him without cause or proof. He was after all, a fruit of his loins.
The boy grew without the presence of the man who was so very proud of him because death laid its icy hands on the man.
The boy did not learn of the contours on the man’s face or his hearty laughter or his quick wit and his immense love for music and for him. He only heard stories and saw pictures.
Life as you would have it, happened too much and too soon to the boy.
He has always had an air of maturity about him. He made himself tough. Never complained. Never bickered. Has always been compliant yet particular in his stance.
He is a studious boy who realized from the get go that he wasn’t built for the great outdoors. His books were and have always been his greatest companions and he’s learned to keep his emotions close to his chest.
The past 2 years have been some of his toughest years yet and looking in from the outside, it is heart wrenching. Knowing that this boy is someone who gives himself fully to everything he commits to especially his books, but can’t seem to catch a break or breakthrough to greater heights, kicks me in my gut every single day.
He’s forced himself to keep going. He doesn’t give himself a chance to breakdown and pick himself back up. And it’s easy to think he’s a strong boy but being a prime witness to the few times he let himself go that I’ve seen the glimpses of vulnerability, I silently wail for the little boy.
And after those moments, I share what the Psalmist and the Apostle Paul speak of in the Bible that says that, “All things work together for our good”
Lift your head up, young king!
For when the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, they were like them that dreamed!
You will prevail.
Beauty for ashes, son.
You’ll do great. You’ll go far. You will SHINE!!!
